"When the new Renault small car is presented at the Paris Salon at the end of 1961, this means a small revolution! The brand's designer reveals a new concept: a whole new approach to the automobile. The entire Renault 4 is revolutionary for its segment. It has an economical four-cylinder engine with a closed, maintenance-free cooling system, front wheel drive (a premiere at Renault for passenger cars), a platform frame on which the body is bolted, four wheels with independent suspension, four fully usable seats and, above all, a tailgate that makes access to the boot much easier. With the textile folding roof, the R4 driver has the opportunity to let the wind blow through his hair in nice weather
